Highland Base Campsite

Operating from June 15 through September 30, the campsite welcomes tents, campers, trailers, and cars with roof top tents, and features a well-equipped service house. Reserve your spot here.

The Service House provides basic amenities for the campground and huts: Toilets, showers, a kitchen, and an outdoor grill to make your stay comfortable and cozy.

• Toilets (There are a total of 3 toilets, including 1 x handicap accessible)

• Grill area (Guests must bring their own charcoal & lighter fluid)

There is electricity in Zones A & F. Each zone is equipped with a total of 6 electrical points per zone. If you require electricity on your site it is important to book the correct zone & site with electricity (additional charges apply). 

Zone F is dedicated to motorhomes, trailers, and cars with rooftop tents.

Altogether there are 10 sites. Sites 1-6 are equipped with electricity hookup. It is important to select the correct site with electricity if required.

Both campsite & hut guests can purchase admission to Highland Baths between the hours of 12:00-22:00.

It may be possible to make a reservation when you arrive on the spot, strictly subject to availability.

If you do not have a reservation, please do not set up camp without permission from our team. The site you are considering setting up may already be reserved. Please speak to our team to make a reservation (strictly subject to availability).

Fannborg ehf. (National ID Number: 690508-0950) manages the campsite and oversees the services provided at Highland Base Kerlingarfjöll.

• All guests are required to present their campsite reservation on arrival and on request if necessary. This may be a printed copy or on a mobile device.

• Guests may set up camp from 14:00 onwards. Early setup is not permitted unless pre-approved by the campsite staff upon arrival.

• Guests must be packed up and leave the campsite before 12:00. Late checkout may be permitted upon request. Please consult with our team on the day of departure to see if this will be possible.

• A reservation includes 1 x site for 1 x camping unit (Tent, Campervan, Trailer, or Car with roof top tent). Guests with more than 1 x camping unit must book an additional site.

• The maximum capacity for 1 x site is 6 guests. Children up to the age of 11 do not count towards the 6 guest limit. Proof of age may be requested for children up to the age of 11.

• It is strictly forbidden to resell Highland Base Campsite reservations.

• The cancellation policy for the campsite is 24 hours. All reservations cancelled more than 24 hours before arrival are eligible for a full refund, excluding an ISK 500 processing fee. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable.

• All prices include VAT. 

Highland Base is in Iceland’s Central Highlands. There are no stores or gas stations in this remote region. We highly recommend you stock up on supplies before journeying to Highland Base. Guests of the campsite are welcome to dine at Highland Base Restaurant.
