Highlights: Nedri-Hveradalir, Mænisjökull, Mænir, Kerlingarskyggnir, Hverabotn, Sléttaskard, Vondagil, Kerling, and Kerlingartindur.

Start point / end point: Parking lot at Nedri Hveradalir. This also covers the hike to Ásgardur, which is approximately 4 km.

Distance covered: 20 km overall. Approximately 6 km can be added to hike if passing through Hattarkluftir and Hraukaskard.

Total ascent: 400 m at Mænishringur and an additional 1100 m cumulative elevation from the signpost at Sléttaskard.

River ford crossings: Kerlingará river, if staying at Klakksskáli hut.

Lodging: Ásgarður and Klakkur

What to bring

Warm clothes and socks, wind- and waterproof jacket, sturdy boots, gloves, buff, hat, and sunglasses. Water, snacks, and a light lunch.
