Description
Our hike begins with an ascent along a rhyolite ridge, leading to the base of Fannborg mountain before we climb its western side. From there, we continue eastward to Vesturgnýpa and onward to Snækollur, the highest peak in the Kerlingarfjöll mountain range, standing at approximately 1,477 meters. The panoramic views from Snækollur are breathtaking in every direction. Because Kerlingarfjöll sits in the heart of Iceland, many say that on a clear day, you can see both the north and south coasts from its summit. Seeing this magnificent view during summer solstice is a once in a lifetime experience.
